Project overview

Charin mission: To impress customers with the true traditional taste of Japanese tea and sweets. Our task was to rebuild their website. The website that tells about Japanese tea and also has the needed information such as menu and access information.

About Charin

Charin cafe is located in Kamakura, which offers numerous temples, shrines and other historical monuments. Charin cafe is a traditional Japanese cafe where people can enjoy Japanese tea and seasonal sweets. The store purchases high quality tea leaves from the only nation's leading teahouses. The cafe has their own tea master who brews each cup of tea with his heart. He adjusts the amount of hot water, temperature, and brewing time to match each tea leaf. The cafe has beautiful and delicious fresh sweets full of seasonal flavour.

  • How do you like our service? What information was missing on the website and in the store?
  • What made you decide to visit our cafe?
  • What made you decide to visit a cafe?
  • What made you decide to visit a cafe?

Result from the research

Customer wanted to have...

  • Images of cafe, seats
  • Opening hours
  • Closing days
  • Access
  • Contact details
  • Seasonal menu
  • Information about the tea leaf
  • Information about the seats capacity
  • Closing days

Solution

Our solution was to focus on building a website with access information, opening hours, contact details, seasonal menus, information about tea leaves, images along with Japanese traditional atmosphere design. For each season we used a background image that demonstrates that season.

Result

People who passed by our store would look at the website to find their answer to the question: What does it look like from inside? What’s the menu and how much is it? Can I learn more about tea? The website answers the questions and this made people feel at ease and resulted in an increase of visitors by 25%.
